The People We Assist
We provide O&M assessment and instruction services to NDIS Participants who choose to:
1. self-manage their NDIS plan
2. have their plan managed by a third party
3. or a combination of 1 and 2.
We provide O&M assessment and instruction services to people of all ages, living with blindness or vision impairment, who are not covered by the NDIS. Blind Focus services are provided on a fee-for-service basis.
We provide consultancy services to organisations and independent service providers, to improve awareness and skills, in working effectively and meaningfully with people living with blindness and vision impairment.
It began with a question…what is it like to acquire life skills when you are blind or vision impaired?
Instead of finding a simple answer, this question raised even more questions:
- How do people make sense of Orientation and Mobility (O&M)?
- Why do some people living with blindness or low vision understand and value learning O&M skills and others do not?
- How do people understand the connection between O&M, independence, dependence, and interdependence?
- What can parents do to ensure their child with impaired vision acquires age/stage relevant life skills?
The answer to these questions led to the creation of Blind Focus. To read the full story click here.
